Ready-to-wear wedding dresses are pre-designed gowns that are made in standard sizes and set styles. These dresses are part of a brand’s permanent or seasonal collection and are produced in batches—much like fashion labels produce clothing for retail stores. To understand how materials affect look, feel, and price, read ‘wedding dress fabrics explained’.

Because our fittings are 60 to 75 minutes long, the last appointment for each day will be an hour prior to closing time.
Emerald Bridal is typically closed on public holidays.
Absolutely! The whole point of our initial 60-minute consultation is so you get to try on your favourite looks in-person at our Ryde showroom. Our in-store sample ranges from size 8 to 12 and we hold plus size samples for a select number of dresses. For style ideas before you come in, our ‘types of wedding dresses guide’ is a handy place to start.”
We recommend starting your wedding dress search at least 8 to 12 months before your wedding day. This allows plenty of time for:
- Finding the right style without pressure
- Ordering your gown (most made-to-order dresses take 4–6 months to arrive)
- Scheduling fittings and alterations, which typically take 6–8 weeks
Pressed for time? At Emerald Bridal, we also offer off-the-rack gowns and rush order options to accommodate shorter timelines. Just ask when you book your appointment.
Yes. Emerald Bridal is by-appointment only to ensure every bride receives dedicated, one-on-one styling support. Weekday bridal fitting appointments are free, while a small fee applies to weekend bookings. This helps us manage demand and provide an unhurried experience. All appointments include a private fitting room and a personal stylist.
Wedding dresses at Emerald Bridal start from around $2,500 AUD, with most gowns ranging between $2,500 and $4,500. We also offer off-the-rack styles and sample sale gowns at reduced prices for brides shopping on a tighter budget.
Our collection is curated to provide high-quality craftsmanship and timeless design — whether you’re after a minimalist gown, detailed lace, or a dramatic silhouette.
We accept EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, and cash in-store.
We recommend nude underwear, a strapless bra if you plan to wear one, and any shoes or accessories you want to try with gowns. Most importantly, come with an open mind — many brides fall in love with a dress they didn’t expect.
Expect a private, one-on-one appointment in our Sydney boutique. You’ll be paired with a dedicated stylist in a calm, supportive environment — no sales pressure, just genuine guidance. Here’s a quick read on ‘do I need to book an appointment to try on wedding dresses?’ for what to expect.
Absolutely. We welcome all couples. Our boutique is a safe, inclusive space where every bride is treated with respect and care, regardless of gender identity or relationship.
Of course. We are pleased to welcome brides to bring up to 3-4 guests to the appointment. Our space is intimate, so smaller groups ensure a comfortable visit.
Bridal fittings can be a bit daunting when you’ve never tried on a wedding dress before.
But you’ve probably tried on clothes at a store before – while not exactly the same, the end goal is. That is, we’re here to help you find the dress that makes you look and feel great.
Here’s what you can expect:
- At your bridal fitting, you’ll begin by sharing your wedding vision and dress preferences with a consultant. This may take a few minutes and you’re more than welcome to bring in photos for inspiration.
- Your consultant will digest the information and select a variety of gowns, starting broadly and refining your choices based on style and comfort.
- You will be asked what you like and don’t like about each dress you try on – this will help us find the right style and vibe for you.
- During the fitting, our bridal fitting specialist will discuss adjustments and alterations to help you achieve the perfect fit (because every ready-to-wear wedding dress needs alterations).
Some customers have already browsed our collection of wedding dresses and know exactly which dresses they wish to try.
Other customers don’t know where to start.
Either way, its OK because we’re here to help you find the dress that resonates with YOU.
The first bridal fitting is a 60-75 minute appointment where one of our specialist stylists will get a sense of what you’re after, show you a number of gowns, and let you try on a number of wedding dresses to see what style you prefer.
A return visit is reserved for previous Emerald Bridal brides who have already come in for their first fitting and wish to retry a favourite gown. The return visit appointment is 30 minutes.
Please be advised we charge a $30 booking fee on weekend for first bridal fittings to reduce no-shows and to ensure we can serve as many customers as possible.
We don’t limit the number of gowns you try on, however, in our experience, the magical number is 5. This is because 5 gowns give you ample time to know whether or not the dress you’re trying is right for you. Any more and you will start to feel rushed and that’s not an experience we want for you.
A $50 non-refundable booking fee applies to weekend appointments to help us manage demand.
Photos are not permitted during your consultations, however:
- FaceTime or video calls are welcome
- If the gown you’re trying is discontinued, you or your guest may take photos of it or of you wearing it.
Standard lead time is 6–8 months from deposit to arrival. Rush production (3–5 months) is available for a 25% surcharge.
A 20% deposit starts production. The remaining 80% is due at your first fitting.
Yes. Most ready-to-wear gowns can be customised—your stylist will confirm options and pricing during the appointment.
Rush orders cut lead time to as little as 12 weeks. Fees range from 10–25%.
Because each gown is made to order, deposits are non-refundable.
Size or design changes are possible within 48 hours of ordering.
Emerald Bridal does not offer on-site alterations. We are happy to recommend seamstresses across Sydney.
Usually two weeks before your wedding. We’ll confirm the exact date at your final fitting.
