Satin Wedding Dresses

Satin is a weave structure — not a fibre — that produces a smooth, lustrous face and a dull reverse. Bridal satin is most commonly woven from polyester or silk, with silk satin considered the luxury standard. Duchess satin is a heavier, more structured variant that holds silhouette shape well and is commonly used in ball gowns and structured A-line styles. Charmeuse is a lighter, more fluid satin suited to draped and bias-cut designs. Mikado is a related fabric — a heavier silk-polyester blend with a matte finish — often grouped with satin in bridal contexts. Satin suits formal and black-tie wedding settings and is strongly associated with classic and traditional bridal aesthetics. It photographs with high contrast and produces a clean, polished image.
